It's 32 days until Christmas. It's 2 days to the Black Friday shopping madness. It's 11 months and less than 2 weeks until the next Presidential Election. It's 4 months and about 2 weeks until the opening of Major League Baseball season. It's an estimated 26 days until my next grandchild will be born. It's 49 days until my father celebrates his 82nd birthday. It's 10 days until my son Michael's business Mikey's Burgers and Fries opens its second store in Brighton MI. It's about ten years until I can afford to retire. It's about 2 and a half years until my oldest granddaughter, Natalie, heads off to college.
We tend to organize our lives by deadlines and milestones. Depending on our age or our ambition we live in the past, in the moment, or in the future. Our lives revolve around that focus and become defined by points in time towards which we are moving. Some of us try to live in the past out of fear for the present.
Regardless of our orientation, one thing remains true. God, who is good, will be present in every time, in each eon, from now until eternity. And that presence means that we will be able to depend upon His love-His love which is timeless.
So today give thanks to the Lord. Affirm your confidence in His goodness. Live in His love forever.
